Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Photography Briefing
Arrive in Arusha and transfer to your lodge. Evening photography briefing: camera settings for safari, wildlife behavior tips, and itinerary overview. Test your gear and adjust settings.
Day 2: Tarangire - Elephants & Baobabs
Tarangire is paradise for photographers: dramatic baobab trees, massive elephant herds, and excellent light. We focus on elephant behavior shots and silhouettes against ancient baobabs at sunset.
Day 3: Tarangire - Dawn & Dusk
Pre-dawn start for the best light. We'll work river crossings, bird shots (Tarangire has 550 species), and action sequences of elephants. Midday break for image review and editing tips.
Day 4: Ndutu - Reflection Photography
Drive to Ndutu area, famous for reflection shots at the salt lake. If timing aligns with calving season, the predator action is incredible - lions, cheetahs, and hyenas hunt newborn wildebeest.
Day 5: Ndutu - Big Cat Focus
The open Ndutu plains offer excellent big cat photography. Cheetahs hunt in the morning light; lions rest on kopjes. We'll work on action shots, panning techniques, and capturing behavior.
Day 6: Central Serengeti - Leopard Country
Move to the Seronera area, which has Africa's highest leopard density. We'll spend hours at known leopard trees, waiting for the perfect shot. Evening focus on hyena and jackal activity.
Day 7: Seronera - Kopje Compositions
The granite kopjes are natural photography studios. Lions rest on rocks, leopards hide in crevices, and hyrax scurry everywhere. We'll work on composition, leading lines, and environmental portraits.
Day 8: Serengeti - Full Immersion
Final full day in the Serengeti. We'll target any species or shots you're missing. Migration herds provide opportunities for wide-angle storytelling shots. Tonight, a group review of your best images.
Day 9: Ngorongoro Crater
Dawn descent into the crater for unique photography: black rhino, dense wildlife in a confined space, and flamingo-lined lakes. The lighting in the crater is exceptional.
Day 10: Final Shots & Departure
Optional sunrise on the crater rim. Transfer to Arusha with final photo opportunities en route. Depart with a hard drive full of memories.
