Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania - Safari HQ
Your family adventure begins in Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania. Kids receive their Junior Ranger backpack with binoculars, wildlife checklist, and activity book. After settling in, take an optional visit to a local coffee farm where children can see how chocolate (cacao) is grown!
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire - Elephant Kingdom
Short drive to Tarangire National Park, known for having the highest elephant concentration in Tanzania. Kids love watching baby elephants play and splash in the river. The giant baobab trees look like something from a storybook. Our lodge has a swimming pool overlooking a waterhole where animals come to drink!
Day 3: Tarangire - Animal Tracking 101
A full day learning about animals. Morning game drive focuses on finding different species on the Junior Ranger checklist. After lunch and pool time, join a guided nature walk where kids learn to identify animal tracks, dung (yes, kids love this!), and signs that animals leave behind.
Day 4: Tarangire to Serengeti - The Big Drive
Today we journey to the legendary Serengeti. The drive is long but broken up with stops including a Maasai village visit where children can meet local kids, see inside a traditional home, and learn about Maasai culture. We enter the Serengeti in the afternoon for our first game drive.
Day 5: Serengeti - Lion King Country
The Serengeti is like stepping into the Lion King! Full day of game drives with picnic lunch in the bush. We'll look for lions, cheetahs, and the huge herds of wildebeest and zebra. Children love the kopjes (rock islands) where lions rest - just like Pride Rock!
Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro - Journey to the Crater
Morning game drive then we head to Ngorongoro, driving across the Serengeti and through the Conservation Area. We stop at the crater rim for incredible views - kids can hardly believe what they're seeing. The lodge sits right on the edge with a heated pool.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater - The Lost World
Descend into the crater - it feels like entering a lost world! The crater floor is packed with animals - hippos, elephants, lions, and the endangered black rhino. We'll have a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. Kids receive their Junior Ranger certificates tonight at a special celebration dinner.
Day 8: Departure - Safari Champions
After breakfast, we drive back to Arusha with a stop at a local market where kids can pick out souvenirs. Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward journey. Your children leave Tanzania as Safari Champions, with memories that will inspire them for life.
