Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania - Welcome to Africa
Your safari adventure begins! Our driver will meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport holding a Bald Eagle Safaris sign. The drive to Arusha takes about 45 minutes, passing coffee plantations with Mount Meru in the background. Tonight, relax at your hotel and meet your guide for a detailed safari briefing.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire - Land of Giants
After breakfast, we head to Tarangire National Park, arriving around midday. Tarangire is famous for having the highest concentration of elephants in Tanzania - herds of 300+ are common during dry season. The landscape is dotted with ancient baobab trees, some over 1,000 years old. We'll enjoy an afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River where elephants, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest gather.
Day 3: Tarangire to Serengeti - Into the Endless Plains
Today we journey to the world-famous Serengeti, driving through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with stops at viewpoints along the crater rim. We'll pause at Olduvai Gorge, the "Cradle of Mankind," where the Leakey family discovered early human fossils. Entering the Serengeti through Naabi Gate, the landscape transforms into endless golden grasslands. Game drives begin immediately, and your first Serengeti sunset will be unforgettable.
Day 4: Full Day Serengeti - Big Cat Country
A full day in the Serengeti gives you time to truly absorb this incredible ecosystem. We'll do early morning and late afternoon drives when predators are most active. The Seronera area has the highest concentration of leopards in Africa - look for them draped over branches of sausage trees. Lions lounge in the kopjes (granite outcrops), and cheetahs scan the plains for gazelles. We'll pack a picnic lunch to maximize game viewing time.
Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro - The Eighth Wonder
After a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, we head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The drive takes us through Maasai lands where you'll see traditional bomas (villages) and cattle herds. We ascend to the crater rim at 2,300 meters where temperatures drop and clouds swirl. Your lodge sits right on the rim with views into the crater - on a clear evening, you can see elephants and buffalo from your room.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater - Garden of Eden
The highlight of many Tanzania safaris. We descend 600 meters into the crater at dawn when animals are most active. The crater floor is only 260 square kilometers but contains an estimated 25,000 large animals including the endangered black rhino - this is one of the best places in Africa to see them. Lions are everywhere, and the Ngoitoktok hippo pool is spectacular. We'll enjoy a picnic lunch by the soda lake where flamingos feed.
Day 7: Departure - Kwaheri Tanzania
After breakfast, we descend from the crater highlands through the lush coffee-growing region to Arusha. Depending on your flight time, we can stop at a local coffee farm or curio market. We'll transfer you to Kilimanjaro Airport for your international flight, or to your Zanzibar connection. Your safari ends, but the memories last forever.
