Rongai Route FAQs
Why is Rongai better in rainy season?
The north side receives significantly less rainfall. While southern routes can be very wet during March-May, Rongai stays relatively dry.
How does the drive to Rongai Gate work?
3-4 hour drive from Moshi/Arusha. Early morning departure. Last section is unpaved but manageable in 4x4s.
Is Rongai less scenic?
Different, not worse. Drier, open landscapes with Kenya views. Mawenzi Tarn camp is dramatic. Unique perspective few climbers see.
