About Kilimanjaro National Park
Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest peak at 5,895 meters - and uniquely, it's a mountain that almost anyone with determination can climb. No technical climbing skills are required, just fitness, proper acclimatization, and the right mental attitude. Each year, around 50,000 people attempt the summit, with success rates varying from 45% to 85% depending on the route.
Kilimanjaro National Park protects the mountain and its five distinct climate zones - from cultivated farmland through rainforest, heath, moorland, alpine desert, and finally the arctic summit zone with its iconic glaciers. The glaciers are retreating due to climate change, making now the time to witness this natural wonder.
Seven established routes lead to Uhuru Peak, each offering different experiences. The Machame Route (6-7 days) is the most popular, combining scenic variety with good acclimatization. The Lemosho Route (7-8 days) offers the best summit success rates and wilderness experience. Whatever route you choose, standing on the Roof of Africa at sunrise is a life-changing achievement.
