About Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park is Tanzania's most accessible national park and one of its most scenically diverse. In just 137 km², you'll find everything from montane forest to alpine meadows, crater lakes to open savannah - all set against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Meru's peak.
The park offers exceptional wildlife viewing within easy reach of Arusha city. Black and white colobus monkeys are abundant in the forests, giraffes and buffalos roam the grasslands, and leopards patrol the forested slopes. The Momella Lakes attract flamingos and over 400 bird species make this a birder's paradise.
For the adventurous, Mount Meru is Tanzania's second-highest peak and an excellent acclimatization climb before Kilimanjaro. The 4-day trek to the 4,566m summit rewards climbers with stunning views and a fraction of Kilimanjaro's crowds.
